Recruitment to the Law Society's Diversity Access Scheme (DAS) has now opened for the 2018 cohort. The scheme, which aims to improve social mobility in the legal profession, provides financial assistance to help cover the costs of the Legal Practice Course as well as offering work experience, mentoring and networking opportunities to those who are offered a place. It supports those who face significant social, educational, financial or other obstacles in pursuing a career as a solicitor.
Law Society president, Joe Egan, said: 'I encourage any aspiring solicitor who is facing particular challenges on their way to qualification to consider applying for a place on the [DAS]. To thrive, the profession needs committed solicitors from diverse backgrounds. The Law Society looks forward to welcoming up to 10 new trainees on to the scheme to support them in realising their ambitions.'
Recruitment closes on 8 April 2018. For more information, visit the Law Society website.
