LASPO review delay

Last week, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) announced a further delay in the LASPO review.
LASPO was implemented in April 2013 and the MoJ had planned a post-implementation review within five years, but it has been subject to a series of delays. Last year's general election meant that plans for the review were shelved again.
In March this year, at his first appearance before the Justice Committee, the lord chancellor David Gauke said that the review was 'likely to take longer' than the previously promised summer recess deadline (24 July), but he assured the committee that 'we don't want to be slipping into next year'.
'It's clearly embarrassing for the lord chancellor that, despite his assurances, the MoJ has missed the deadline to publish the review again. I only hope it is worth the wait,' said Steve Hynes, LAG's director.
The MoJ has said the review will be published early in the New Year.
