About the Job

Contract: Fixed Term Contract (One Year)
37 hours per week (Job Share or reduction of hours will be considered)
Salary: Up to £19,000 FTE
This is an exciting new project and a great opportunity to help the most vulnerable people in Suffolk resolve their legal issues.
Suffolk Law Centre is one of the UK’s newest Law Centres and is seeking a Legal Triage Officer (Outreach) to join our office based in Ipswich.
We provide free legal advice, and in some cases advocacy and representation, in a range of legal subjects for people primarily in Suffolk who cannot access legal help elsewhere.
We are looking for a skilled legal adviser to deliver effective triage and initial advice in relation to a range of legal areas. This role is part of our new Justice Bus Project: bringing legal advice to people living in rural areas of Suffolk. The Legal Triage Officer will ‘hot desk’ at various advice agencies across Suffolk, taking referrals, meeting with clients, listening to their legal issues, carrying out initial triage, ascertaining eligibility for legal aid and arranging appointments where appropriate with Suffolk Law Centre’s Legal Advisers and referrals to other external agencies and law firms nationally.
The post holder will be required to travel across Suffolk (and potentially across East Anglia) and will need their own car and a full Driving Licence. Fuel costs will be reimbursed.
For an informal discussion, please ask to speak to Audrey Ludwig, our Director of Legal Services.
Suffolk Law Centre is part of the Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE) Group of Charities and works very closely with the other parts of ISCRE.
