Is Woolf working?

April 2009 saw the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the Woolf reforms to civil litigation. Lord Justice Jackson sees his report on civil litigation costs as continuing the process Lord Woolf started. LAG hopes his report sparks action on the problems of complexity and costs in the civil justice system.

Confusion over civil contracts

The Legal Services Commission has been forced to extend the Unified Contract (Crime) to 13 July 2010 and the Unified Contract (Civil) to 13 October 2010.

Review of civil litigation costs

Lord Justice Jackson in his report on proposals to reform civil litigation costs has called time on conditional fee agreements in which the costs are covered by the losing party.
