Editorial policy

LAG promotes equal access to justice as a fundamental democratic right. Justice demands both fairness of process and fairness of result. We seek to remove barriers to fair and effective justice, particularly for those who have difficulty enforcing their rights or defending their interests. To this end, we work to improve law and practice, the administration of justice and legal services.

LAG's products, including Legal Action magazine, are all aimed at the providers of services to disadvantaged people, not at the people themselves. Legal Action's editorial policy is based on how we aim to achieve LAG's purpose and meet practitioners' need for information on areas that affect them, their work and their clients. Therefore, Legal Action aims to:

  • provide support to the practice of lawyers and advisers;
  • inspire developments in that practice;
  • campaign for improvement to the law and the administration of justice; and
  • stimulate debate on how publicly funded legal services should be delivered.
