Policy and legislation Detained appeals On 18 April 2017, the government published Immigration & asylum appeals: the government's response to its consultation on proposals to expedite appeals by immigration detainees. The government has decided that there are to be new rules that provide for an overall limit of between 25 and 28 working days between the Home Office decision and the First-tier Tribunal's (FTT's) determination, with an additional 20 working days for determination of any application for permission to appeal to the Upper Tribunal.
