This course provides an overview of the new legal framework for the delivery of community care and will draw out some of the implications for practice. It is suitable for lawyers and advisors, and for social care practitioners who are starting out in Community Care work.

• The overarching well-being principle

• The new general duties including the prevention agenda

• Assessments

• National eligibility criteria

• Care and support planning in the new framework - personal
  budgets and direct payments

• Carers' rights

• Transition from children to adult services and the relationship
   with the Children and Families Act 2014

•  The boundary between health and social  care

 Aims and Objectives:

• To understand the key elements of the Care Act 2014 and the
  associated regulations and guidance

• To identify and explore some of the potential implications
   for practice

Lecture format. Case studies and question and answer sessions enable delegates to explore this area of law.  Comprehensive course handouts will be distributed to all delegates
