Q1 How do I know if the book edition I have is the most current?
All the books featured on this website are the most current editions available.
Q2 When is the next edition coming out?
If a new edition is imminent, we will mention this on the book entry but please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
or call us on 020 7833 2931
if the information you're after is not available.
Q3 I am a lecturer, can I have an inspection copy of a book?
Yes. Please contact LAG using your organisation's headed paper and include details of the course. If the book is added to the course reading list the copy can be retained. Details of the course and the reading list should be forwarded to LAG. If the book is not adopted then it should be returned within 30 days or an invoice will be sent for the full amount.
Q4 I would like to request permission to reproduce content from a LAG book
Publishers' Licensing Services (PLS) manage all individual permission requests for Legal Action Group via PLSClear
. If you wish to request permission to re-use material from any LAG publication please visit PLSClear
and fill in the easy to use form and get a quick response.
In some cases it is not necessary to request permission to re-use content. For more information read here
Q5 I am a student, do I get a discount?
No, although you will find that all LAG books are very competitively priced. Students do however qualify for a considerable discount on the subscription for Legal Action and LAG membership.
Q6 I don't want to buy a book online, how else can I do it?
All our book order processing is handled by Marston Book Services.
Please send any orders to:
Marston Book Services
Direct Mail Department
160 Eastern Avenue
Oxfordshire OX14 4SB
Q7 If I am purchasing a large number of books will I get a discount?
We offer a sliding-scale discount on bulk purchases of any of our books. Please email email@example.com
or call us on 020 7833 2931
for further information.
Q8 How much is postage and packaging?
If you're based in the UK, £3.50 will be added to your total book order to cover postage and packaging (regardless of the number of books you purchase). For Europe and the rest of the world please contact Marston Book Services on 01235 465577
or email firstname.lastname@example.org
for a quote.
Q9 How long will it take for my book to arrive?
Delivery to addresses within the UK and EU may take 5-7 working days. Delivery to the rest of the world can take up to 30 days. Our carriers may attempt delivery during office hours, we therefore advise that you provide a shipping address where you, or a representative, can sign for delivery.
Q10 Would you be able to invoice my organisation?
Yes - at the discretion of Marston Book Services - please indicate this on your order form.
Q11 I have an idea for a book that LAG might like to publish, who should I contact?
We are always open to new ideas, please email the publisher, Esther Pilger, on email@example.com
Q12 Are accessible versions of LAG books available?
Many of our publications are available as eBooks (ePub format) which may be suitable for your specific needs. If this format is not suitable for your needs, a reasonable effort will be made to find alternative formats such as PDF. For more information see our accessibility policy or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q13 I would like to return a book, is that possible?
You can return a book within 30 days of purchase and receive a refund as long as it is received by Marston Book Services in a saleable condition (see address details above). Please return a copy of the invoice with the return. It is recommended that customers return goods via a traceable method.
Q14 Can I return an eBook or print/eBook bundle?
As eBooks cannot be physically returned, we are unable to offer refunds on successfully downloaded eBooks. Please check the title is what you want and the format is suitable for your device/browser before completing your purchase.
If you wish to return a print book purchased as part of a bundle, we will consider a partial refund if the book is returned in a saleable condition but you will need to contact LAG directly, not Marston Book Services.
Q15 What format are LAG eBooks?
LAG eBooks are in ePub format. This format is compatible with a number of devices and ereading apps. See further below Q17 on how to read an eBook.
Q16 Can I share an eBook with my colleagues?
‘Sharing’ an eBook is not the same as sharing a copy of a physical book. ‘Sharing’ a digital file involves creating a copy of the original file and this breaches copyright restrictions. When you buy an eBook you are purchasing an individual licence to access the data, which is not the same as buying a book in print. When you download an eBook it is electronically watermarked for use by the customer who made the purchase.
If you would like to purchase a multi-user licence for an eBook, please contact LAG to arrange a suitable licence.
Q17 How do I read an eBook?
LAG eBooks can be used on PCs, Tablets and mobile devices. They can easily be viewed using Adobe Digital Editions.
Click on this link and follow instructions to download on your device. eBooks can also be read via a browser such as Edge. To use an eBook on a Kindle ereader you should purchase directly via Amazon.
Q18 How do I download my eBook?
Once you have checked out and completed your purchase, go back to the web page of title you purchased. Instead of seeing 'add to basket', you will see 'download'. Note that if you have bought a BUNDLE, this download link will appear on the 'bundle' product page not the eBook product page.
Q19 What are the VAT rates for eBooks and bundles?
Printed books are zero rated for VAT. Ebooks are subject to 20% VAT and all prices shown are inclusive of VAT. Bundle prices are inclusive of VAT at 10%. This is because VAT is only applied to the digital element of the package and the print element is zero rated. All receipts will show the rate of VAT applied.
