Overview
As with previous years, the course will bring practitioners up to speed in relation to all legal, procedural and funding developments of relevance to civil actions against the police law over the past year and afford opportunities to discuss tactics with fellow claimant lawyers. The trainers will draw on their knowledge of developments in related legal areas and the course will be of interest to all those involved in public interest litigation.
Practitioners are encouraged to communicate with the trainers through the PALG e-mail list to influence the particular focus of the course. The course will include practical tips, strategy and tactics for effective practice.The course will provide a comprehensive update since the course was last delivered in November 2019 and will cover:

Aims and objectives
This course will provide practitioners with a comprehensive update of developments in the law relating to liability, procedure, quantum, costs and funding of relevance to police actions (including claims against other detaining authorities).
Area of specialism
The course is designed for practitioners acting for claimants who have a good understanding and experience of the issues involved in taking cases against the police. It assumes knowledge of civil actions, torts and principles in police action quantum cases. Please note that this course is for claimants' lawyers only
Course materials/resources
Lecture format. Comprehensive course handouts will be distributed to all delegates electronically. Questions and contributions from those involved in the cases under discussion are positively encouraged.
