Salary: £29,316 F.T.E. (Scale 6 of Citizens Advice Westminster Salary Framework)
Hours: 24 hours (3 days per week)
Contract: 12 months Fixed Term with the possibility of extension
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic professional individual to provide a high quality in-depth specialist advice and casework service on the full range of Benefits issues for local residents in the City of Westminster.
Based at our offices in Paddington, with outreach sessions delivered at community venues in Westminster, the post holder will:
Provide a high quality generalist advice service on Debt and Housing issues, as well as in-depth advice, casework on the full range of Benefits issues; which meets quality standards and achieves performance targets
Provide advocacy (including conducting talks, presentations and written reports) to key stakeholders on current and emerging Benefits issues; and representation for individuals and families facing crisis, to alleviate and address social and financial exclusion
Support the development of the organisation’s generalist advice teams in their knowledge and experience of Benefits issues
Identify and highlight policy and campaigns issues with a view to influencing policy and effecting change.
You will need to demonstrate:
Citizens Advice’s Certificate in Generalist Advice Work or other equivalent qualification or training
Two years (full-time equivalent) post certificate experience of providing generalist advice in Debt and Housing issues,
Two years (full-time equivalent) of providing good quality in-depth specialist Benefits advice, casework and representation on the full range of Benefits matters.
As the successful candidate you will need to be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to service delivery. You will be able to demonstrate effective organisational skills, with the ability to cope under pressure whilst maintaining standards. A commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment is essential.
