10.11The Crime Contract makes special provision for related work in the High Court, family and county court.1SCC B10.152–10.163. This will cover, for instance, proceedings for leave to see a family law file in connection with an abuse allegation, and to oppose the grant of a voluntary bill. Bail applications, appeals by way of case stated and work in the ‘associated civil work’ class are excluded from this provision.2SCC B10.152.
10.12There is no financial eligibility test.3SCC B10.155.
10.13Prior authority always has to be obtained from the LAA.4SCC B10.152. Crim-inal payment rates apply5SCC B10.157. which are the same as those for Legal Representation under the civil specification.6SCC B10.158.
10.14The provisions on associated civil legal aid work also allow those with criminal contracts to undertake judicial review and habeas corpus applications and a limited range of work (following restrictions introduced by LASPO7Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 Sch 1 para 40.), under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.8SCC B13. Claims are made in accordance with the civil scheme.
