IntroductionExpert evidence:instructing expert
27.1This chapter is concerned with instructing two different types of experts before the Court of Protection, psychiatrists and nurses. Both sections of the chapter are written by experts in their disciplines who regularly give evidence before the court, and outline the specific considerations relevant to instructing psychiatrist and nurses respectively. In broad terms, however, the points that they make as to how to instruct and support an expert are equally applicable to an expert of any kind. The chapter should also be read with chapter 12 on expert evidence.
