Other medical treatment casesMedical treatment cases:routineMedical treatment cases
22.11Merely because a case involving medical treatment does not fall within the categories of serious medical treatment as defined in PD 9E does not mean that it should not be brought to court if – for instance – there is a serious dispute between those properly concerned with P’s wellbeing as to whether the medical treatment should be administered or withheld. An example would be a dispute about the withholding of antibiotics. Such an application would, though, fall to be considered for purposes of case management (and the Case Management Pilot) as akin to a ‘standard’ welfare application. They are not therefore discussed separately in the majority of the balance of this chapter.
