Karl Turner reported over family link
Shadow solicitor general Karl Turner is under investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards for failing to declare an interest when asking parliamentary questions on criminal legal aid.
His wife, Leanne Turner, works at the Hull firm Williamsons as a solicitor specialising in criminal law. She also sits as a First-tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement) judge. Bill Waddington, the former chair of the Criminal Law Solicitors’ Association, is a director of the firm.
According to Turner’s office, he usually declared his wife’s work when appropriate, but had failed to do so on this occasion due to an administrative oversight.
