Some reviews of the 2013-14 Handbook: I wish I could say "this book is never off my desk" but the truth is my copy of LAG legal aid handbook always appears to be on someone else’s. Vicky Ling and Simon Pugh have yet again devised an important, intelligent, easy to read, and, above all, practical guide to our ever more complex legal aid system. Essential reading for all practitioners seeking to provide a first class service to clients in a post-LASPO world Phil Walsh Partner/Practice Manager, Miles & Partners LLP Legal aid has suffered some devastating cuts, but for what remains in scope, this is an invaluable guide for practitioners. The book discusses the new rules on civil and criminal legal aid clearly and concisely and it also contains a useful chapter on developments in legal aid policy. Well done to the authors and LAG for being so quick off the mark with this excellent publication. Lord Bach, former Legal Aid Minister Some reviews of the 2011-12 Handbook: A valuable addition to the library of any solicitors undertaking work in publicly funded areas Yasmin Anwar, London Advocate Essential reference material for any agency or individual working the legal aid scheme...this guide remains vital. Alan Markey, The Adviser This guide compresses the need-to-know basics (plus a brief gallop through where we are now and quite where reforms might take us) into fewer than 400 pages.  Compared to the 3 volume LSC Manual, that alone makes it a godsend.  The language is clear, informative and as jargon free as it is realistic to expect in the circumstances...All in, this is a great starting point for any queries about legal aid, and a useful addition to the library. Julia Belyavin, Pink Tape Everything you need to practice publicly funded law...a vital book to have.
