The Society of Labour Lawyers launched its pamphlet,
Towards a National Legal Service: new visions for access to justice, on 6 September 2023. The pamphlet follows Roger Smith’s and Nic Madge’s paper,
The National Legal Service: a new vision for access to civil justice, which was launched at LAG’s ‘Legal aid: fighting for the future’ event in parliament on 27 March 2023. It covers the proposed National Legal Service itself as well as family law, housing, and public law in immigration and asylum, alongside chapters on rebuilding the sector, civil costs and the economic case for civil legal aid. Contributors include the Law Centres Network, Legal Aid Practitioners Group and JUSTICE.
Roger Smith will discuss the new pamphlet further in November’s Legal Action.
