(Negotiable if successful candidate has previous experience)
Fixed-Term Contract (One Year)

Suffolk Law Centre is seeking a Housing Legal Aid Caseworker to join the Law Centre’s Housing Legal Advice team and support the team to provide advice and assistance (under supervision), and advocacy at Court, in accordance with our Legal Aid Civil Contract, as well as some Pro Bono advice to vulnerable people living in Suffolk.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with Housing Law advice experience, no matter how minimal and preference will be given to applicants who fit this ‘desirable’ criteria. However, this post could suit a Law Graduate as a first job after graduating, with relevant volunteering experience. As part of Suffolk Law Centre’s ‘Grow Your Own’ strategy and to help address Suffolk’s legal advice gaps, we are keen to provide the training and casework experience to enable trainee staff to work towards achieving Supervisor Standard (as defined by the Legal Aid Agency’s Category Supervisor requirements).
Suffolk Law Centre is a part of the Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE) Group of Charities and works very closely with the other parts of ISCRE.
This is an exciting chance for you to help develop and expand our Housing Legal Advice Service and to sustain and grow Suffolk Law Centre in order to continue the provision of early legal advice and assistance to our community.
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact us via the means below and we will arrange for our Housing Supervisor to contact you.
Whilst the post is open to all, we are particularly keen to attract candidates who are from backgrounds currently underrepresented in the law, and who may have experienced of some of the issues faced by our clients.
