20.44The OPG maintains a panel of professional deputies who can be appointed as property and affairs deputy for P where there is no other suitable person to take on the role. Panel deputies are ‘deputies of last resort’ as in most cases the deputy will be a member of P’s family or a legal professional who is already familiar with P.
20.45The court will often order the appointment of a panel deputy in cases where there has been a dispute within the family as to who should be a property and affairs deputy or where there has been abuse. For further details about disputed applications for the appointment of a property and affairs deputy; the revocation of EPAs, LPAs and deputyships; and the choice of deputy see chapter 7 above.
