12.189Criminal proceedings which, if the case were to proceed to trial, would likely last more than 25 days may qualify as very high cost cases (VHCC).
12.190VHCCs are subject to individual case contracts.1Standard Crime Contract 2017 Specification para 7.1. If you potentially have such a case, you are obliged to report it to the LAA national courts team within five working days of the earliest date at which the court sets a trial estimate or you identify that the case will be or is likely to be a VHCC.2Standard Crime Contract 2017 Specification para 7.3.
12.191You can only continue with the case if you enter into a contract with the LAA in relation to the individual case.
