18.42The LAA’s Complex Crime Unit (CCU) manages membership of the very high cost case (VHCC) scheme. Only firms that are accredited under this scheme can represent clients in VHCC cases – any case where the trial is expected to last for more than 40 days.
18.43From 14 July 2010, organisations and self-employed advocates wishing to work on cases classified as VHCCs have had to obtain VHCC accreditation. This can be done when you become aware that you have a potential VHCC case and can be submitted at any time. There is information about the VHCC arrangements and how to apply at www.gov.uk/high-cost-cases-crime.
